Spool is a keepsake app for capturing and preserving the voices, photos, and stories of the people you love. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Spool. It is short because Spool is built to collect as little as possible — in almost every case, nothing at all.

Spool does not create an account for you and does not ask you to sign in. Because there is no account and no Spool server, we do not collect, store, or have access to:
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or social media trackers of any kind.
Everything you create in Spool — recordings, photos, captions, biographies, and the people you add — is stored locally on your device.
If you have iCloud enabled, Spool uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync and back up your content across your own devices. This data lives in your personal iCloud account, not on any server operated by us. We cannot see it, access it, or retrieve it.
iCloud data is protected by Apple's encryption. If you enable Advanced Data Protection in your device's iCloud settings, your Spool content becomes end-to-end encrypted, meaning not even Apple can read it. Enabling Advanced Data Protection is optional and controlled entirely by you; you can learn more in Apple's documentation.
When Spool transcribes a recording, it uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. The app enforces local processing, meaning your audio is processed entirely on your device and is not sent to Apple's servers, our servers, or any third party for transcription. If a device cannot perform transcription locally, Spool does not fall back to cloud transcription — it simply reports that transcription is unavailable.
Spool requests certain device permissions only to provide its core features. In every case, the resulting data stays on your device (and in your iCloud, if enabled):
You can review or change these permissions at any time in your device's Settings. Declining a permission simply disables the related feature.
Spool lets you export a Keepsake — a self-contained file containing one person's photos, recordings, and stories. When you export a Keepsake, it is created on your device and shared only through the method you choose (for example, AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or saving to Files). We are not involved in that transfer and never receive a copy. Once you share a Keepsake with someone, how they store or use it is outside our control and this policy.
If you choose to email our support address (help@memoriphoria.com), your message is sent using your own email app. To help us troubleshoot, Spool may pre-fill the draft with basic diagnostic details — your app version, iOS version, and device model. These details are visible in the draft, and you can edit or delete any of them before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
Support emails are delivered through a third-party email forwarding service and stored in our support inbox, where we use them solely to respond to your request. We process this information on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing user support. We do not use support emails for marketing, and we periodically delete resolved support correspondence (typically within 12 months).
Spool is designed to help families preserve memories, which may include recordings of people of any age, added by the account holder. Spool is not directed to children, does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and — as described above — does not collect personal information from anyone through its own systems. If you believe a child has provided information to us through a support email, contact us at help@memoriphoria.com and we will delete it.
Because Spool does not collect or store your personal data on any server we control, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control of your content directly:
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. Because we do not collect personal data through Spool, most such requests will not apply — but you are always welcome to reach out.
California Privacy Notice (CCPA/CPRA): Spool does not collect personal information through the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the updated version on this page. Significant changes will be reflected there.
